there are lots of good pubs in fitzrovia/bloomsbury. good points: the pubs will be quiet at the weekends, it's central for everyone, and it's near the uni so the pubs are used to geeks playing chess 😉

anyway, a good pub might be the Fitzroy Tavern. i *think* you can book a function room downstairs which has got booths n stuff. the beer is cheap and it does food.

is that the one on the euston road? haven't been there but i'm going soon to buy a new board to go with the huge lewis chess set i've just bought...

fitzroy tavern can be reached easily from warren street, goodge street, and tottenham court road tube, as well as tons of buses.
